This aerial view shows the valley between two promontories, where eight locks were built to raise boats some 79 feet (24m). It is late in the season, and there is only one boat, in the fourth lock. The two large buildings are the Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel and the Conference Centre. This photo was taken during a hot air balloon ride my wife Myrtle and I took to celebrate her 75th birthday.
