Tangshan was struck with a severe earthquake on 28th July 1976 with a magnitude of 7.9 on the richer scale. It happened in the early hours of the morning at3:42am when everyone was fast asleep killing more than 242,000 people.

Within 30 years after the quake, Tangshan rises up again and now has become one of the most prosperous metropolitan in China.I arrived in Tangshan on 28th June 2006 and paid a visit to the earthquake museum which was in near completion in time for the commemoration of its 30th anniversary of the quake disaster. With just one month to go before its commemoration, I saw workers were busy putting up finishing touches and the exhibition emphasized on the past, present and future development of Tangshan City.
