The Zapotec capital of Mont Alban (White Mountain but unknown Zapotec name) is stunningly situated on a mountain top directly overlooking Oaxaca city. The city was an administrative centre only. There are no dwellings, terraces or fields here. All supplies had to be brought up from the valley below.
