I just reviewed these wonderful and fascinating photos again, I wish to know more, was this a University sponsored trip, (what is AU?) and how long was it!? I enjoyed sharing this so much, I went around So. America with a good friend, in 1973, it's interesting to see all the changes! Thanks again, for sharing these with us!!

Apparently the smog is particularly significant during the winter (now) because of the wind patterns. It gets caught in between the two cordilleras, the Andes and the smaller one between Santiago and the ocean. They say that when summer comes the wind patterns will change and much of the smog will not be caught over the city. I guess we´ll wait and see...
