The Convention Center, sadly, had become a symbol of suffering and despair, along with those who could be seen (by helicopter and tv viewers) on the rooftops. There is ongoing construction still in the part closest to River Walk, but blocks and blocks of convention center are open now, including the ballroom, all looking brand new and shiny, with full services, people happy to be working again, and a tourism industry ready to resume hosting huge-size conventions. The place is huge, air conditioned, and completely without trace of that horrible day, except for the construction still going on invisibly, far from public view.
