In 2004 we travelled across Italy, around the Adriatic, through the Balkans to Turkey. Croatia was one of the highlight countries. Although we only saw a few of its cities, they were all impressive. The islands are generally harsh, dry and limestone. Great for building but not so good for agriculture. As a consequence the Croatian's turned to the sea. Venice's hand is visible everywhere.
