After we reached Dubrovnik we found that the ferries running to Greece would not be starting till later in the month. As we were on our way to Istanbul it looked like we'd got ourselves stuck. So we backtracked up to Split and then took an overnight bus to Belgrade. We arrived in the Serbian capital at the crack of dawn, booked a ticket on the overnight train to Sophia, Bulgaria, and then wandered around. Belgrade isn't overly blessed with tourist sights, but it was fairly pleasant. Like the rest of the former Yugoslavia,
