In July, 2006, we seized the opportunity of a bussiness travel to Siena to organise a short visit to Sicily. We didn't know very much about the island, so that we selected a nice hotel in Palermo to stay for four nights. We came to Palermo in the evening of the first day, and our itineraries were: second day to Monreale, the Villa Romana del Casale and Selinunte; third day to the Etna and Taormina; fourth day to Agrigento; and the morning of the fifth day, before leaving to the airport, a visit to the Normand buildings in the old Palermo. We didn't really expect to watch so much beauty. Everything was splendid, but the Duomo de Monreale and the mosaics of the Villa Romana del Casale must be qualified as unique pieces. In addition, we think the Greek ruins are better than the majority of what you can find in Greece. We enjoyed every minute of our trip, and we hope to come back soon to spend no less than two weeks in the island, both to see more and to enjoy again, more quietly, many of the places we already visited. Hope the images we brought this time from Sicily may be of you interest.
