The Panton Hill area, 30 km NE of Melbourne, has a rich heritage of gold mining activity, which thrived in the period 1850 until the 1940s.

These pictures show the scenery and walking tracks in Long Gully, Wimbi Reserve, Boomer's Reserve, Wurran Reserve, and Yanggai Reserve, with these areas of preserved bushland now managed by Parks Victoria.

They surround the Long Gully, New Chum, Chinaman's Gully and Boomer's Creeks.

The images were taken on November 8, 2006.
