We drove across Vancouver Island to the Tofino area on the west coast where we stayed at the Wickaninnish Inn. As it was November, we were hoping to witness the drama of a winter storm. We were not disappointed. In the two days we were there, we had sun, wind, rain, thunder and lightning and an inch of hail. The hotel's rain forest setting on Chesterman Beach is absolutely spectacular. I doubt that there are many 5 star hotels that can boast this level of comfort while watching the power of a wild Pacific storm. Even our pets ... (more)
