After Mývatn we headed east. The road rises up steeply before you descend to a plateau. Just at the base of the mountains we came across this area containing fumeroles, hot bubbling mud and hot streams. Its called Hverarönd. The noise was incredible and the smell was so so strong. The air was so thick with chemicals that a silver braclet I was wearing became instantly tarnished!!!
