<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> &#34;Langevin Block&#34; (1883-9)<br> Sightseeing in Ottawa picture - is an imposing office building on Wellington Street facing Parliament Hill. Named for Sir Hector-Louis Langevin, the Public Works Minister under Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald, the block was the first federal government office building constructed away from Parliament Hill in the 1880s. As the home of the Privy Council Office and Prime Minister&#39;s Office, it is the headquarters of the executive branch of the Canadian government. While the offices of senior Privy Council Office officials remain in Langevin Block, its use is now largely limited to the Prime Minister&#39;s Office (the prime minister&#39;s political advisors). The prime minister maintains an office in this building, in addition to his office in the Centre Block of the Parliament Buildings. </div></nolayer></noembed>
