Campania - beautiful, cultured and rugged. In Roman times the Bay of Naples was THE place for the well to do - not unlike the French Riviera today. There is little evidence of Roman history in Naples itself - you need to visit Pompeii and Herculaneum for that. Across the bay lies the steep and rocky island of Capri.
