Major Paul Triquet, VC<br> Monuments & Memorials in Ottawa picture - Born in 1910, he joined the Royal 22e Regiment at 17, and went overseas in 1939. In 1943 he earned the Victoria Cross for capturing Casa Berardi during the Battle of Ortona in the Italian Campaign. He was made a Knight of the French Legion of Honour, the first Canadian to receive this honour during World War II. He retired from the Canadian Froes as a Brigadier General.
