Pierre Lemoyne, Sieur d'Iberville
Monuments & Memorials in Ottawa picture - He was a French naval captain, who explored Hudson's Bay, and terrorized English colonies along the Atlantic coast. He later located the mouth of the Mississippi, and founded Biloxi. When the RCN established a basic training school for francophone naval recruits at Quebe City, it was named HMCS d'Iberville in his honour (I served there from 1958-1961). It was closed in 1961, but there is now a Reserve naval division by the same name in Rimouski, Quebec.
