was recently built & is accurately furnished as an Amish school would be today, including working gas lights and a potbellied stove. Speaking of Amish schools - the area was still in mourning when we visited. You may have heard on the news about the gunman who stormed an Amish school in the immediate area on October 2, 2006? The non-Amish local man tied up 10 children & killed five of them before taking his own life. The school was destroyed the day after we left & a new one was already being built.
