The "Amish Farm and House" attraction,
Sightseeing in Pennsylvania picture - located 5 miles East of Lancaster City, was opened in 1955 in response to a growing demand in the tourist industry for correct information about the historical and contemporary Amish culture in Lancaster County. The farmhouse, built in 1805, is billed as the oldest & most authentic Amish home open to the public in the county. Amish bedrooms are conservatively decorated with colorful quilts and simple furniture. Their unique clothing is displayed on the walls. They have dressed this way for more than 300 years & it varies depending on their marital status, or the occasion, ie weddings, funerals, and church.
