Second day of your travel you visit Yamunotri. Hanumanchatti – Phulchatti – Jankichatti – Yamunotri – Jankichatti – Phulchatti – Hanumanchatti The popular belief is that if someone takes bath here at Yamunotri then all his/her sins will be washed off and he will have a peaceful death. According to Hindu belief, Yamuna is the sister of God Yamraj (god of death). Yamuna wished that all her believer will be exempted from painful death and was promptly accepted by her brother Yamraj. According to another believe, in ancient age there was one saint who used to bath regularly in river Ganga. Then he became old and was unable to trek to Ganga, this makes the old saint very upset that he no more be able to bath in river Ganga. He was a true devotee and God Ganga was pleased to appear here to enable the old saint to continue his daily bath.
