Myself Sasikumar, My wife been to Mudumalai on 15th Aug 2006 along with office colleague Jaggendranath family. We stayed there for couple of days in Mudumalai Forest Guest house. It was great place with pleasant view and lots of deers sorrouding our place. We had a night drive to check out for some animals...we could see lots of bison and elephants. Infact the thrilling part of it, 3 elephants (2 big ones with a small one) on the mid way and we don't know how to move further. I started reversing the car but the reverse siren made us panic as the elephant started looking at us and it was too dark only our head lights are on. We are just hardly 50 to 75 feet away as i reacted to stop too later after seeing the elephant in the midway as their body color matches the black metal road. Details about MUDUMALAI NATIONAL PARK

There are two National Parks in the Nilgiris ie., Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary and Mukurthi National Park. The Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the important sanctuaries in India and is a major tourist attraction in the Nilgiris. This sanctuary lies at an elevation of 1140 meters in the junction point of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and extends over an area of 321 sq.km. Mudumalai is at a distance of 40 km from Udhagamandalam. A variety of habitats ranging from tropical ever green forest, moist teak forest, secondary grass lands and swamps are found. This sanctuary is a paradise of wild animals. Most of the wild animals like Panther, Sambar, spotted deer, Barking deer, Mouse, Wild boar, Nilgiri Languar Porcupin are spotted at this sanctuary.
