The location of the former World Trade Center (WTC) Towers, in Lower Manhattan. [The north tower had opened in 1970, the south tower in 1972.] The WTC site was 16 acres, but the site we saw was much smaller than I expected because rebuilding & construction has finally begun, a long 5 years after the tragic 9/11 event that destroyed the site. It's been a long, drawn out, controversial time & I have tried to summarize the main timelines in the introductory text.
