After WWII, surplus American jeeps were sold or given to local Filipinos. They were stripped down, modified, and colorfully painted. They came to replace the affordable public transportation that was destroyed in the war. They run specific routes which are identified on the sides of the vehicle and typically cost about 15 cents, US, to ride.
