Albuquerque has been the hub city of all of my trips to New Mexico. It sits on the banks of the Rio Grande River and gently slopes down toward the river. It is a city filled with many interesting things to see. Old Route 66 is very much a part of its history and there is much nostalgia along to the old route. Each time I have been there I have also gone to Old Town - the historic district. I have a saying: "Shop in Sante Fe, but buy in Albuquerque." Many of the same Native American artists' work can be found in both cities, but I found the prices more affordable in Albuquerque. Albuquerque is also the location for the New Mexico State Fair, but I will have a separate gallery for my trip to that event. I might also add that, if my calendar allows, I try to drive to Albuquerque rather than fly and rent a car because I am appalled that the airport car rental tax is 40% - it feels like robbery to me.
