Eventually it was time to go to the Salzburger Landestheater. We were going to see an Opera Mozart had composed at the youthful age of 18. Its name was "La Finta Giardiniera". A strange thing seems to have happened between the early months of 2006 and today. When I first tried to track down information about this opera, not only were there a very limited number of Internet references, but I even found it impossible to discover the meaning of the title. Today (January 5, 2007), looking once more, I discovered that there were, suddenly, all kinds of opera companies who had either staged or were planning to stage the work. It seems that I am not the only one who has 'discovered' this 'new' work by Mozart. (continued next picture)
