Salzburger Landestheater
Sightseeing in Salzburg picture - Looking for a translation of the opera's title after our return home, I was overly successful; instead of finding none, as I had a year ago, I found not just a single one, but many. The only problem was that few of them agreed on what, in your own language, it should be called. There was "Die Gärtnerin aus Liebe" (The woman gardener because of love), "Die Verstellte Gärtnerin" (The pretend, woman gardener), "The Sky's Gardener", and "The Pretended Girl Gardener." Well, maybe after a while some common title may appeal to everyone. As far as the opera itself was concerned, the music was beautiful, and the plot, even with surtitles in German, rather confusing. As best as I could figure it out, it was about the problems men and women get themselves into trying to find the 'right' mate. Despite all of my confusion, I thoroughly enjoyed discovering this 'new' opera.
