Having traveled to Mondsee, it seemed that in the year of Mozart's 250th birth anniversary, it would be most negligent not to visit Salzburg. And so, we hopped on the bus and traveled there to spend two days and a night in the town of Mozart's birth.

While I was still planning our visit in Canada, I had all kinds of plans: seeing a Mozart opera, visiting Obersalzburg, attending a lunch hour concert, and joining a guided tour of some of the sites in Salzburg. But, luckily good sense prevailed. The only actually prearranged aspects of the visit to Salzburg was our hotel accommodation and our tickets to see an opera, "La finta giardiniera", which Mozart had composed at the amazing age of 18. For the rest of our time there, we were free to wander about and to explore what there was to be seen, at our leisure. And so, as it turned out, it was a restful and very enjoyable visit.
