My wife, son, and I spent Christmas 2006 in Saigon. It has been exactly 40 years since my last Christmas in Vietnam. I spent Christmas 66 on patrol near Dodge City. New Year 66/67 was a night recon patrol - the medic got really drunk. I slept on my back in the rain. Nothing happened, so it was a good night. This Christmas was much better. In 2006 I was awakened in the middle of the night by 8-10 drunken Australian carolers. At midnight (my son says it was at 2am), they sang their last song, "For He's A Jolly Good Fellow!" A great night for us all.
These are photos mostly of what I saw walking around Saigon, then on a Mekong tour, and then back in Saigon. Not many major attractions here - no Cu Chi, no museum, no cathedral. Saigon is a great place just buzzing with energy.
