Big Wild Goose Pagoda 大雁塔<br> Sightseeing in Xi'an picture - When the pagoda was first built in 652 during the Tang Dynasty, it had 5 stories. During the 8th century, 5 more stories were added. However, the wars had damaged it later & it was then re-built to the current height of 7 stories (64m). It was built to house the sutras & figurines of Buddha that were brought to China by a Buddhist translator & traveller.
