The San Diego Zoo is considered to be one of the three finest zoos in the entire world, having more different species of animals than any other. This is fortunate , because the January day we visited was during one of the coldest weeks experienced in recent years, and many animals were content to stay out of sight in the warmer indoors . The bears weren't in view, and the lions weren't either. We saw only one tiger and it was at some distance.

Happily, there were plenty of other animals there that didn't seem to mind ... (more)
