This church, built in 1895, is one of the city's most famous historic landmarks. Allied bombing in WWII left only the husk of the neo-Romanesque church's west tower intact. It has been retained as memorial to the destruction of war. A modern concrete bell-tower and octagonal hall of worship was built alongside in 1961
