For a long time we thought it might never arrive. Whatever had become of our good old Ottawa Winter?? Because of global warming and its crazy disruption of our normal climate, January was exceptionally warm. Not only was there not enough ice for skating on the Rideau Canal, it looked as if it would not be cold enough to keep ice sculptures from melting, either.
