The Super Pit. Believe it or not but the massive Super Pit gold mine is a listed tourist attraction in the goldfields town of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. It may not be the largest hole in the ground but it is pretty big. This entire area was once a series of shaft gold mines. After they ran dry they were all bought out and then a massive excavation project commenced to dig out the entire area. Kalgoorlie is still one of the leading gold producers in the world.
