The Alcázar of the Christian Kings
Córdoba picture - The city of Córdoba was for two centuries one of the most important cities in the world, perhaps the most advanced city of Europe. By the time of his conquest by the Castilians, his shine had, however, decayed very much. Córdoba never reached the relevance of Seville or Toledo in the Spanish Christian world of the Middle Age, but was still important enough to merit the honour of a royal palace. That was the Alcázar of the Christian Kings, emplaced just a few metres from the mosque-cathedral.
