WWII
Hello. My father, James A. Stevenson (an Army Air Force bombardier in the U.S. military) was shot down by the Germans in May of 1944. His plane landed on Bornholm. I've recently come upon this news and wanted to come "see" your beautiful area (the internet is so wonderful). My father and his partner were helped by some very kind people (Kaas Hansen and his family). I understand the daughter, Vibeke Bech, still has an insignia my dad had given her! Thank you to the people of Bornholm for caring for the U.S. Servicemen and helping them escape. And thank you, especially, to the family who took care of my Dad. Maybe someday I'll be able to come see your country. Shirley (Stevenson) Wallis
