now you know why I wasn't crazy about taking off my shoes. Thank gawd I had socks on, although they got quite dirty from walking through all the rat shit on the floor. I took my socks off as soon as I got to the van. Anyway, about the rats - the complex is inhabited by legions of ‘sacred’ brown rats that scurry all over the place without fear. That's because the rats are believed to be incarnation of dead Charans.
