Hundreds of followers throng the temple each day to honor Karni Mata & to feed the rats with sweets, coconut & milk. Note that the women in this area don't wear traditional saris, which is basically an urban thing in India these days. They wear long full skirts & a top (choli) that covers their midriff, & always a long sheer veil to cover their heads & shoulders. Note the bright colors. Because the desert is so colorless, the women in the area wear bright colors, even neon colors, to brighten things up.
