In the middle of a long, cold, snowy Southwestern winter, it was a dream-come-true to venture south to Mexico in March, 2007. As first time visitors to Mexico, we felt that luck was on our side by staying at The Royal Decameron. Although the resort was beautiful,(and at the time we stayed there, visited by approximately 90% Canadians)the welcoming guide encouraged us to "get off the resort". He said, "Mount Tremblant is not Quebec...Whistler is not B.C., and the Royal Decameron is not Mexico..." Truer words were never spoken. The resort was a beautiful resting spot, but our best memories took place off the resort on the many walking trips into Bucerias, the day trip to the Sierra Madres, the city bus into Puerto Vallarta and the evening cruise, "The Rhythms of the Night". Puerto Vallarta was extremely busy when we were there, being in the middle of all the school March Breaks, but we found none of that "busyness" where we were, just 30 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta by bus, and a 20 minute walk south of the town of Bucerias.
