Undavalli Caves were built (Carved in the mountain) approximately in the 2/3 AD probably by the Local Hindu Priests for the Buddist Monks. This is how the history is interpreted. The influence of both Hindu and the Buddist Culture and sculptures is seen clearly. It may also been built by the Buddist Monks and later adopted by the local hindu priests.
