Mission San Gabriel is just 10 minutes east of downtown L.A. in an adorable neighborhood near Alhambra. It makes a nice afternoon activity. Monterey Park - just next door to Alhambra, make a great stop for lunch (tons of Chinese and Vietnamese places).
