The Route des Crêtes is a road on the ridge of the Vosges mountains that was built by soldiers during the 2nd World War. Today it is an excellent road -with an unbelieveble view!- not only for mountainbikes and motorbikes. In the following pictures you may see views from the Route des Crêtes between le Markstein and Col de la Schlucht and hiking sceneries in this magnificent mountainside. I drove up to the Route des Crêtes from Metzeral, first towards le Markstein where I also spent the night in my camper van. From le Markstein I walked down to the mountain-lake Lac de la Lauch and up again in a three hours hike. Back at le Markstein I drove along the Route des Crêtes towards Col de la Schlucht. From that way I did an excursion to another mountain-lake, Lac de Blanchemer between Col de la Schlucht and La Bresse, from where I hiked up to another Vosges summit, the Hohneck. From Col de la Schlucht I finally drove back to the valley of Munster from where I also had started this two-days-excursion.
