I arrived in Kathmandu on March 8th after flying from Varanasi, India. While in the Varanasi airport, I met a solo American guy and three Chilean women. The five of us teamed up to share a taxi from the airport to the hotel and then booked a tour together to the Royal Chitwan National Forest. Although we didn't spend many days in the park, we were able to participate in a number of the standard tourist activities: canoe ride to see crocodiles, jungle walk with more crocodiles, evening cultural dance performance, visit to the elephant breeding center, elephant bathing and elephant ride. One of the highlights was the admittedly touristy elephant bathing where you got to sit on the elephant's back as she sprayed you with water and then dumped you into the Rapti River a few times. Lots of fun!!
