This stupa, a Buddhist religious structure, is the largest in the world. Devotees walk around the stupa in a clockwise direction, turning each of the hundreds of prayer wheels inscribed with the Tibetan prayer "Om Mani Padme Hum" (roughly translated as "hail to the jewel in the lotus"). You hear that chant constantly emanating from the numerous CD shops in the tourist districts of Kathmandu and Pokhara. It's burned in my brain.
