Following a 2007 conference in Rochester, NY, I took an overnight trip up to Ottawa. Both there and back I passed through the Thousand Islands area, an area dotted with nearly 1000 islands and even more islets where Lake Ontario meets the St. Lawrence River. The islands are the remains of some old mountains now underwater after the end of the last Ice Age. And yes, the salad dressing gets its name from here.
I stopped at a viewing tower on the Canadian side of the border for these photos.
