{Adinath was born Rishabha at least 5000 years ago at Ayodhya, now one of the seven most sacred cities of India. It is located on a river about 134 km from Lucknow. He became the first Jain Tirthankar (saint) of the present age & was given the name Adinath - the first lord. According to Jain beliefs, Rishabha existed before civilization developed. He apparently had 101 sons & he taught people agriculture, tending of animals, cooking, and more. His eldest son, Bharat, became a king & the conqueror of the known world.
