Peru - Sacred Valley / Ollantaytambo 06 Scenery in Cusco - travel photos - After a few days in Cuzco, we were ready for our next journey in Peru as part of our GAP...
After a few days in Cuzco, we were ready for our next journey in Peru as part of our GAP Southern Divide tour. My tourmates were very enthusiastic about hiking and we changed our plan to hike part of the Sacred Valley of the Incas instead of seeing the Pisac Ruins. I decided to go along with the hiking and it turned out to be a very hard exercise for me. I had a hard time going up and especially going downhill. Fortunately my tour guide hired two very good guides for this hiking adventure and the assistant tour guide Kenny assisted me when I was going downhill. When I told my tour guide that I could not do it anymore, Kenny managed to flag a local bus for me to go downhill and meet the tour later on at a small town. The ride on the bus downhill was very interesting as the road was very winding. After resting, I felt much better and even had a nice Coca tea and Chicharron (pork skin) for snack. Then I met up with the rest of the tour to go to Ollantaytambo. Ollantaytambo was another highlight - a very interesting Inca town with very well preserved Inca architecture and a very impressive fort. There was even a festival at the town square and we joined in the fun!
