My final destination of the August 2003 US trip was the American federal capital – Washington DC. Once again, Washington DC was another highlight of my trip. The mall area is lined with imposing neo-classical buildings, making it a showcase of the American government. One of the people at the hostel compared Washington DC to the new Rome. Hi Maria,
I was in DC for approx. three days. Yes it was rushed and the weather did not help ;o) It was very hot. I took a lot of photos and that might cause people to think I covered a lot of grounds ;o) Thanks for visiting!

How long in DC?
Hi Ben, just wondering how many days you were in DC cause certainly seems like you were able to see a whole lot. Me and my husband just made our 1st trip there. We were there just 4 days. The metro did make things easier. I agree w/you about the Holocaust Museum, how inspirational and devastating!

Thanks for all your good pictures of wonderful Washington! the only mistake you made, was in going there in August, when the weather is totally unbearable, too bad!! October would probably be the very best month, to visit. Next time, be sure to visit the National Portrait Gallery, it's really TERRIFIC!!
