Madrid, the Spanish capital, was the major stop for my spring 2005 journey to Southern Europe and one of my top favourite cities in the world. It is full of historic sights and impressive architecture. Just wandering around was a pleasure - looking at beautiful buildings and people enjoying the tapa bars...Many streets of Madrid were just stunning, filled with ornate and grand architecture not unlike Rome and Paris. I visited the stunning Royal Palace, Retiro Park and the Museo del Prado. I also did some fantastic day trips to surrounding areas – Aranjuez, Toledo and Segovia. Getting around is easy with its slick metro, and my hotel was centrally located in Plaza del Sol, making exploring even more convenient. Please note that these photos were scanned by Wal Mart.
