In 1935 John Smedley transformed this one time Quarry into a sheltered garden for Rhododendrons. It gave him great pleasure and to others many happy hours. Now open to the public each spring.It is an endless fascination for people interested in creating beautiful surroundings, with an abundance of bright colours and textures.Well worth a visit. There is a nursery where plants can be purchased.
