Rich and I, our friend John and his son James, took an overnight hike starting at Lembert Dome, going through the Tuolumne Meadow and down along a series of waterfalls on the Tuolumne River. This is part of the backcountry in Yosemite National Park and permits are required for overnight trips. A yearling bear had been reported in the area but we didn't see him. Bear canisters are required and are available for rent at a very reasonable rate.
