The wat's stunning façade, which reflects typically flamboyant Thai Buddhist architecture with minor Chinese elements, makes it one of the city's most dazzling architectural gems. Its prime location in downtown Alor Star is a reminder of Kedah's past as a tributary state of Siam (which became Thailand).
