The site of the mosque was previously the resting place of Kedah's fallen warriors during the course of defending Kedah against Siamese invasions (1821). There’s a spectacular new mosque in town, Al-Bukhary Mosque, that we didn’t know about, so we missed it. If you’re visiting Alor Star, be sure to see it.
